China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) has won a joint bid to build the Rabat Tower in Morocco in a consortium with local residential contractor TGCC.

The US$380 million project in the capital Rabat will be the second highest building in Africa according to The Paper (Chinese). The Rabat Tower, which will contain offices, apartments and a hotel, will be 250 metres high.

Moroccan media have said that the union of CRCC and TGCC showed that King of Morocco Mohammed VI supports strategic cooperation between the two countries.

The current highest building in Africa is the Jemma Al Djazair in Algeria. Currently being built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation, the 250-metre-high mosque will be 265 metres high upon completion.
