Sixty new COVID-19 infections were detected Saturday in Belgium, bringing the total number of infections to 169 in the country, said health authorities.

Out of a total of 771 samples tested in the day, 60 were positive for coronavirus -- 40 in Flanders, 5 in Brussels and 15 in Wallonia, according to a press release issued by the Federal Public Health Service (FPS Health).

For the first time, a baby was tested positive for coronavirus in Belgium. The patient is less than a year old and had recently stayed in one of the countries at risk.

To date, only one patient has recovered completely in the country. Most of the positive patients have recently traveled, but the FPS Health is seeing more and more local infections.

The number of cases detected has not doubled, as announced on Friday when 59 new cases were reported from 50 a day earlier, the FPS Health pointed out, noting it believed that the return effect of travelers from northern Italy may be coming to an end.
