At least 15 people were killed and 35 others wounded Tuesday when a suicide car bomber detonated his explosive-laden car at the Somarieh area in the capital Damascus, the pro-government al-Ekhbarieh TV reported.
The suicide bomber blasted his vehicle at the Somarieh area at the western entrance of Damascus, the TV said, airing initial footages of the blast, showing destruction scenes and carnage.
The area is close to the hotspots suburbs of Muadamieh and Daraya, both are witnessing clashes between the government troops and the rebels.
The capital has suffered from numerous suicide bombings carried out by the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front and other radical groups fighting to topple the administration of President Bashar al-Assad.
