COVID-19: Delta variant spikes U.S. cases

Drugmaker Pfizer was meeting with U.S. officials on Monday to discuss plans for a COVID-19 vaccination booster shot.

Health authorities say they don’t think it’s necessary, even though Israel is now offering an extra shot of Pfizer’s vaccine amid concern that immunity in the oldest age groups is declining.

And the Delta variant is contributing to a surge in U.S. cases, especially in areas with the lowest vaccination rates.
