Pakistan hosts its first ever pro-wrestling competitions

ISLAMABAD, May 18 (APD) -- Pakistan on Wednesday night held its first ever heavy weight professional wrestling competitions with the participation of 25 international wrestlers from 20 different countries.

The first of its three events was held in the country’s southern port city of Karachi on Wednesday night at the jam-packed Karachi Sports Complex. There were total seven bouts showcased on the opening event.

French based Pakistani wrestler, Badshah Pehlwan Khan, outwrestled former WWC Universal Heavyweight Champion Carlito in the opening fight of the event after a tough battle and received great applause from the home crowd.

Besides Khan, former WWE superstar Wade Barrett, Bernanrd Vandamme, Fabio Ferrari, Tiny Iron, Yacine Osmani and wrestling legend in Europe, Flesh Gordon and four female wrestlers are among the others who are part of the event.

Algerian Wrestler Yacine Osmani won his bout in less than eight minutes, downing Italian Fabio Ferarri. Pakistanis’s favourite, UK-based giant Tiny Iron overpowered tag-team of two wrestlers Tango Tim and Fury.

Wrestling fans believe that such events would encourage the world to attract towards Pakistan and it will also provide an opportunity to a large number of wrestling fans to see their stars performing in front of them.

The energetic crowd made wrestlers even more excited who said that they have never seen such loud cheer and thrilled crowd anywhere else in the world.

Referees, ring masters and commentators have come from the United States and France to meet the international standards.

The second event will be held in the country’s eastern city of Lahore on Friday, while third and final show will be organized in Pakistani capital of Islamabad on May 21.
