Surveillance videos showing children being pushed around and fed with unidentified objects at a day care center in Shanghai have gone viral on Chinese social media.
In the first video, dated November 1, a woman dressed in yellow threw a child's schoolbag and pushed her violently, causing her to fall and bump her head on the corner of a table. And in the other video captured two days later, several children were forced to swallow what turned out to be wasabi and cried hard.
A child was pushed at the day care center.
According to Xinmin Evening News, the center was established in 2015 by the Women's Federation of Changning District, a magazine called Modern Family and Ctrip, a leading provider of travel services based in Shanghai, to help Ctrip’s staff members babysit their children between 1.5 to 3 years old. The center can accommodate more than 100 children, and has support from local authorities.
Following the incident, Ctrip responded that they had dismissed the relevant personnel, called the police on Tuesday and would assist the police in investigating the case.

"On behalf of the company, I extend my sincere apologies. The company will take full responsibility and provide physical examination and psychological intervention for the children and their families," said Sun Jie, CEO of Ctrip.
Ctrip also said they would further increase supervision of the day care center. For instance, they’ll provide surveillance footage to all parents through mobile phones.
Project manager Zhang Baobao told Xinmin Evening News that the woman in the video has been confirmed to be one of the cleaners, who are often encouraged to take care of children there.
The cleaner knelt down and apologized to parents during a meeting on Thursday morning.
The cleaner, two teachers and the principal are currently being investigated by the police.
