China’s air force fleet first crossed the Tsushima Strait

China’s bombers, jet fighters and surveillance aircraft crossed the Tsushima Strait for the first time on Monday to conduct training in the international airspace over the Sea of Japan, said Shen Jinke, spokesperson for China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force on Monday.

Shen said that according to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, all countries enjoy the freedom of navigation. The Chinese Air Force over the international airspace between the Tsushima Strait and the Sea of Japan for ocean-going training, is "lawful and reasonable."

The Chinese PLA Su-30 fighter along with an H-6K bomber and other multi-type multi-fighters are ready to deploy. Achieving the established training purpose, enhancing the ability of ocean-going maneuverability were the main purposes of the training.

The Tsushima Strait is the eastern channel of the Korea Strait, which lies between Korea and Japan, connecting the Sea of Japan (East Sea of Korea), the Yellow Sea (West Sea of Korea) and the East China Sea.
