Queensland vs Tasmania, Brisbane

Tasmania resumed their quest to chase down a mammoth 426 for an unlikely win on Sunday (February 11), only to crash to a massive 206-run loss against Queensland, enabling them to leapfrog to the top of the Sheffield Shield points table, in Brisbane.

Resuming the battle from their overnight score of 208 for 6, the visitors lost their remaining two wickets for just nine runs while the injured bowling duo of Jackson Bird and Gabe Ball did not come out to bat at all. Luke Feldman capped off a brilliant, all-round outing for him by picking up the two wickets Queensland needed on the fourth morning. He started the proceedings on the final day and needed just three balls to make an impact as Thomas Rogers fell off the very first ball he faced in the morning. The other overnight batsman, Simon Milenko, added seven more to his total before falling for 23.

Feldman was named Man of the Match for his match haul of 9 for 85 and 56 runs. All it took Queensland were three overs to wrap up a convincing win that has now propelled them to the top of the table with 28 points, after three outright victories.

Brief scores: Queensland 255 (Matt Renshaw 56, , Luke Feldman 47; Gabe Bell 3-43, Sam Rainbird 3-50) and 285 (Jimmy Peirson 61, Charlie Hemphery 52; Matthew Wade 3-13) beat Tasmania 155 (George Bailey 25; Luke Feldman 6-32) and 219 (Jake Doran 95; Luke Feldman 3-53) by 206 runs.

South Australia vs Victoria, Adelaide

Defending champions Victoria scripted a dramatic comeback on the final two days of their must-win encounter against South Australia in Adelaide to keep their 2017-18 Sheffield Shield campaign alive courtesy a stunning six-win on Sunday.

After Cameron White's century brought Victoria back into the game on Saturday, reducing their first-innings deficit to just eight runs, the bowlers complimented remarkably well to restrict South Australia to just 243 in their second innings, early on Day 4. With 251 to chase, Victoria pulled off a sensational win in the final session with skipper Peter Hansdcomb hitting a superb unbeaten 114 and White following up his first-innings heroics with another half-century to clinch the Player of the Match honours.

South Australia started the day on 208 for 5, but lost both the overnight batsmen early. Scott Boland, who had taken two wickets previously, struck to dismiss Harry Nielsen on 24 while Alex Ross missed out on his half-century by just one run, bowled by Peter Siddle. None of the tailenders contributed significantly as South Australia lost their remaining five wickets for the addition of just 35 runs, setting Victoria a target of 252.

Joe Mennie gave Victoria early heartache with two quick wickets as the defending champions slipped to 84 for 3. Handscomb and White, however, joined hands for a match-winning partnership of 138 that put Victoria back on the victory course that would keep their hopes of a fourth straight title alive, at least for another game.

Handscomb hit eight boundaries and two sixes in his 128-ball unbeaten knock, while White played the anchor, contributing in 50 off 99 to the fourth-wicket stand. White fell when his team was only 30 runs away but Handscomb completed the formalities with Matthew Short for company.

**Brief scores: *South Australia 379 (Harry Nielsen 105, Jake Lehmann 83; Chris Tremain 4-86, Scott Boland 4-88) and 243 (Jake Weatherald 62, Alex Ross 49; Scott Boland 4-41) lost to Victoria 371 (Cameron White 149, Marcus Harris 66; Nick Winter 5-85) and 253/4 (Peter Handscomb 114, Cameron White 50; Joe Mennie 2-40) by six wickets.
