Aircraft in Singapore Airshow reported on fire

An aircraft taking part in the Singapore Airshow was involved in an incident at about 1:30 p.m. local time (0530 GMT) where fire was spotted, the city-state's Changi airport posted on its facebook.

The Airport Emergency Service put out the fire on airport Runway 1. The pilot of the aircraft has been sent to the airport clinic for a check-up, according to the airport.

Runway 1 is closed until further notice. Some delays to flight operations are expected, the airport added.

The Singapore Airshow, which kicked off here Tuesday, is a biennial event and ranks among the world's three largest shows of its kind. More than 1,000 exhibitors from 50 countries and regions worldwide took part in the show which lasts until Feb. 11.
