China's HK-based Sunwah Group launches social services day in Vietnam's HCM City

Sunwah and Friends Social Services and Creativity Day 2015 was launched here on Sunday, attracting participation of over 1,000 people.

Following the first successful "Social Services Day" in 2013, this year's event, themed "Together We Care," was aimed at encouraging people to work with children and youths on social services and creative projects, for the benefit of Ho Chi Minh ( HCM) City's residents, according to organizers, Sunwah Foundation of China's Hong Kong-based Sunwah Group.

A series of activities were held during the day, including an art contest and exhibition themed "Beauty through the eyes of children," a "Creative Marketing Competition" for students to develop and showcase their creativity and innovation, cards making and sand drawings activities under the topic "Wishes of Happiness" with works delivered to patients in hospitals, and gift presentation for underprivileged children.

"Sunwah Foundation, the public services arm of Sunwah Group, has been running social services projects in order to support various educational, arts and cultural programs in Vietnam for many years. Sunwah Group pledged to continue contributing to the development of Vietnam in general, and HCM City in particular, through commercial investments and its commitment to public and social services," said Chairman of Sunwah Group and Sunwah Foundation Dr. Jonathan Choi at the event's opening ceremony.

Among the participants of the event were representatives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HCM City's Union of Friendship Organizations and several foreign consulates, as well as local university students and children from orphanages.
