Teen sensation Shawn Mendes wins Best Male in MTV awards

Canadian idol Shawn Mendes, 18, (with awards host Bebe Rexha, left, and Swedish singer Zara Larsson) beat his countryman Justin Bieber to win Best Male at the MTV Europe Music Awards on Sunday. He was also a Best Worldwide Act winner, along with others such as Larsson and South Korean group Got7. Bieber was the night's biggest winner, taking three prizes. The ceremony paid tribute to late musician Prince with purple trophies.
