Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) reported no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, the 20th consecutive day with no local infections in Hong Kong.

As of 4 p.m. Saturday local time, no new local confirmed cases of COVID-19 had been recorded, and the total number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong remained at 1,044, the CHP announced.

According to Hong Kong's Hospital Authority, by Saturday noon, 967 patients who had confirmed or probable COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery.

With the local epidemic situation subsiding, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government started this week to resume public services in phases and relax social distancing measures.

The CHP still urges members of the public to remain vigilant and maintain an appropriate social distance to minimize the risk of infection and outbreak clusters in the community.

To help Hong Kong residents to strengthen personal health protection, a newly-established non-governmental organization co-sponsored by over 1,500 representatives of various sectors of the Hong Kong society held a mask distribution activity on Saturday, handing out a total of 10 million face masks to residents across Hong Kong for free.
