India overtakes China in direct investment by US

(THETIMESOFINDIA)ThedatareleasedbyUSTreasuryshowsIndiamakesup1.8%ofUSforeignequityholdingsasonDecember2015asagainst1.6%ofChina.

USinvestorsdirectinvestmentinIndianequitieshasrisenfrom$7billioninSeptember2013to$12billioninDecember2015.

DuringthesameperiodUSinvestors'directinvestmentinChineseequitieshasdeclinedfrom$12.8billionto$11.1billion.However,India'soverexposurewithintheEMbaskethasgraduallydeclinedin2015.

Ontheotherhand,theaverageUSinvestor'sequityallocationtoemergingmarketsisdownto12%,substantiallylowerthanthepeakof18%inDecember2009,accordingtodatacompiledbyKotakInstitutionalEquities.Fromapeakof5.2%(January2015),theover-allocationintoIndiabyactivefundshascomedownto3.7%inJanuary2016.
