MANILA, July 18 (APD) – The Department of Foreign Affairs said they are monitoring the case of two Filipinos who went missing at Freedom Beach in Phuket, Thailand yesterday.
In a statement, the DFA said the Philippine Ambassador to Bangkok Mary Jo Bernardo-Aragon said they have already coordinated with the local authorities.
“The Royal Thai Police and a group of Filipino tourists reported the case,” according to the statement. Rescue operations have begun as early as yesterday and have resumed today.
The two Filipinos were reportedly at the beach playing in the sea during a heavy storm when there were swept away and have not been seen since then.
Reports from Cotabato City and from Bangkok, Thailand identified the two victims as Angelo Bien Rafael Cortez, 29 years old and Noah Ibay, 40 years old.
