Suicide bomber shot by security guards in Ankara

A suspected suicide bomber was shot by security guards as he was attempting to enter the prime ministry building in Ankara on Thursday, the Anatolia news agency reported.

The suspect, who had explosive devices on him and reportedly died at the scene of incident, was immediately taken to a hospital after being shot.

Quoting sources at the prime ministry, private NTV broadcaster said the man was identified as 52-year-old Tugrul B.

According to the NTV, prime ministry guards fired warning shots in the air after the man refused to stop and told guards that he was carrying an explosive device.

Intensive security measures have been taken around the building in the wake of the incident.
