German ballet dancers perform "Faust II" in Beijing

German’s Ballett Dortmund performed a classical ballet “Faust II” at the Tianqiao Theater in Beijing on July 4 and 5.

Leading dancers are the world’s famous ballet couple: Lucia Lacarra, the wife and Marlon Dino, the husband.

As a recipient of the Prix Benois de la Danse, Lucia Lacarra is considered as one of the most prestigious ballet dancers.

She was also named the Dancer of the Decade in 2011 at the World Ballet Stars Gala in Saint Petersburg.

Her husband, Marlon Dino, was recognized as “the best dancer” in 2009 and 2010, and also the winner of Crystal Award Artists of the year.

Their splendid performance received warm applause from the Chinese audience.

The Chinese artist Wang Xinpeng, who is well-known for his excellent choreographic interpretations of literature classics, serves as the art director of the new creation.

With this creation, he allures the audience to explore the piece of classical parable on humanity.

Making use of elaborated costumes, modern visual techniques and scenes ranging from the dark ages to modernity, Wang and his ballet troupe expressed the hubris of a human being, and attempted to understand the incomprehensible things in the Goethe’s masterpiece.

Under the direction of Wang, Ballett Dortmund, consisting of 21 dancer from 18 countries, has become an innovative force in the German’s dance circle.

Marlon Dino appreciates that “Wang has found out a unique way of storytelling of Faust, adding that he hopes the Chinese audience could be as enjoyable as they are while performing on stage.

The German dancers also said the Tianqiao Theater is one of their favorite performance venues.

Marlon Dino said he likes the theater because of its profound history and culture.

“It is so great for me to become a part of history of Tiaoqiao theater,” he said.

His wife said: “I likes the Tianqiao theater pretty much because of advanced devices and the beautiful hall where it keeps the minds of those artists who performed here.”

Wang’s FraustⅠdebuted in March 2016, and FraustⅡseven months later.

After touring in many cities, the ballet performance has been well received from the audience and media all over the world.
