Chinese female volleyball team won hard fought battle against Argentine

In spite of winning three sets in a row, Argentina female volleyball team gave China a good lesson.

China falied to have a good start in the first two sets. Point differences in set one stayed tied at the outset. Argentine managed devastate the settings of China. The "moving Great Wall" 's advantage had not been obvious until it first reached 20 points, and eventually won the set by 25-17.

A closer fight in set two fascinated the audiences.China conceded nine points under no pressure, and was unable to find the way to victory until deuce point at 26-24.

Turnovers still occurred from time to time on the Chinese side in set three; stagnant point difference once again remained throughout the game.gui Eventually China secured the match point at 25-22.

Argentina coach Guillermo Orduna said despite losing the match, his team's performance had beensteadily and well, without making any fatal mistake, especially in the face of a high level team like China.

Top scorer of the match Zeng Chunlei said the game was tough as it had been in deadlock all along, and Argentine did a good job in defence. Therefore they had to find other ways out, such as blocking and serving, to redeem their inadequacy on the offensive side.

She said this game unveil the weakness of mentiality of the team. As the members are still green, players' nervousness dragged the team down, which was nakedly reflected in set two.

However, Chinese coach Lang Ping said the disappointing score sheet had nothing to do with the mentality.

"Their problem was that they failed to find the pace of the match . They were puzzled, " she said.

"When they lost points, they kept thinking about things like 'why couldn't I block the ball' and the likes. There's no point to do that . They must have their heads cleared, and learn how to control the pace of the match," she said.

Asked about the big game against Turkey on Sunday, she said they rested three of theirkey players on purpose, while rotating other players. Given their outstanding performance in the London Olympics, she expects there will be a hard-hitting match tomorrw.
