HK Ocean Park's new chair appointed

The Hong Kong government announced Friday that Leo Kung Lin-cheng would succeed Allan Zeman as chairman of Hong Kong Ocean Park Corporation (OPC).

Announcing the appointments to the Board of the OPC, Hong Kong' s Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Gregory So said that Kung, with his profound commercial experience and being the incumbent deputy chairman of the Board of the OPC, was the most suitable candidate for the new chairmanship.

So thanked Zeman for his contribution to the development of the Ocean Park and Hong Kong's tourism industry in the past 11 years as chairman of the OPC.

"Under Dr Zeman's outstanding chairmanship, the Ocean Park has developed into a world-class marine-themed park and a proud asset of the Hong Kong people," he said.

The Park's annual attendance climbed from 2.95 million in 2002/ 03 to 7.73 million in 2012/13, and has won numerous awards, including Asia's first Applause Award, which is deemed the highest international accolade in the global theme park industry.

The OPC is a statutory body established under the Ocean Park Corporation Ordinance to manage the Ocean Park as a public recreational and educational park.
