The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Monday strongly condemned the death threat made against the Chief Magistrate and his family last week and supports the HKSAR government in strictly enforcing the law and judges in performing their duties in accordance with the law.

The HKSAR government has also said it would not tolerate such violent and illegal acts, and police were trying to apprehend anyone behind the case as soon as possible.

Since the implementation of the national security law for HKSAR, Hong Kong's social order has gradually returned to normal, entering a critical period from unrest to governance, a spokesperson of the office said.

A few people tried to influence the decision of the case by intimidating the judge, which not only severely damaged the rule of law in Hong Kong but also defied the national security law.

The rule of law is a core value of Hong Kong society, and any act that challenges the bottom line of law and public order will be unpopular and intolerable, the spokesperson stressed.
