On July 1, 2017, fireworks light up the sky during a fireworks show in Hong Kong to mark the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and the inauguration of the city’s fourth chief executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor.

A total of 39,888 pyrotechnic shells were blasted into the sky from five barges during the 23-minute extravaganza.

The highlight of the show was the “super fireworks wall” at 1,250 metres long and 300 metres tall that could be seen from both sides of the harbour.
