Situations have returned to normalcy after almost 24 hours of deadly suicide blast at Wagah border post in eastern Pakistan's major city of Lahore, as hundreds of people made their way to witness paramilitary troops' parade and flag lowering ceremony on Monday, military said.

On micro blogging website Twitter, Gen. Asim Saeed Bajwa, Director General of the Inter Services Public Relations, the mouthpiece of Pakistani army, said the ceremony was held according to its normal routine.

"Flag lowering ceremony at Wagah Border held with same fervor, shows resolve of the nation. We stand united to eliminate Terrorism," Bajwa Tweeted.

On Sunday night, 59 people were killed and over 100 others injured when a suicide bomber ripped through the crowd at Wagah border, the only land-border crossing point at Pak-India border in Lahore, the capital city of Punjab province.

The paramilitary troops Rangers spokesperson said on Monday that the flag-lowering ceremony was held as per schedule to boost the morale of the nation after the deadly bombing.

A large number of people including women and kids reached at the parade venue at the border and chanted slogans of "Pakistan Zindabad, Pakistan Fauj Zindabad" (Long live Pakistan, Long Live Pakistan Army).

Corps Commander Lahore Lieut. Gen. Naveed Zaman, DG Rangers and police officials also attended the ceremony.

Talking to media, the Corps commander lauded the presence of the large crowd at the ceremony, saying that the brave Pakistani nation has defeated terrorism by their strong national spirit.

He also announced to give five hundred thousand rupees (5,000 U. S. dollars) to the rangers who took part in the lowering of the national flag at the border on Monday.

Talking to media earlier on Sunday, Director General of Punjab Rangers, Tahir Javed Khan, said the blast took place when a suicide bomber detonated his explosive jacket amid a crowd of over 200 people at the border.

The flag and parade ceremony that has become tourist favorite is held daily before the sunset and is attended by hundreds of people, including foreigners, from both Pakistani and Indian sides.
