New Delhi on high alert after terror attack on pilgrims

The Indian capital New Delhi is on high alert following Monday's terrorist attack in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir which left at least seven Hindu pilgrims dead.

The worshippers were on a bus with around 40 people on board when the vehicle was caught in the crossfire in the disputed area.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the violence.

Police said special anti-terror arrangements have been put in place during Kanwar Yatra, an annual pilgrimage of devotees of the Hindu god Shiva.
