NASA makes history by touching asteroid

A first for the U.S. space agency NASA. One of its spacecrafts has touched the surface of an asteroid orbiting the sun.

It happened on Oct. 20, 2020.

It's part of a historic mission aimed at learning more about the origins of the solar system and how to keep asteroids from crashing into Earth.
