At least three dead in shooting in Austin, Texas, authorities say

At least three people were killed on Sunday, in a shooting incident in Austin, the state capital of Texas, according to authorities.

Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services Department said three "adult patients" were dead at the scene of the shooting, the intersection of Great Hills Trail and Rain Creek Parkway.

The incident was reported shortly before midday, local time, according to the Austin-Travis County EMS.

Austin police said its officers reported to the scene of an "active shooting incident" in the city's north-western part.

Residents were cautioned to avoid the area while those in the locality were requested to take shelter.
