Burkina Faso's education minister tested positive for COVID-19

The education minister of Burkina Faso said on Friday that he has tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19.

"Following various influenza-like symptoms that appeared on March 16 and 17, I was sampled by authorized health workers on March 18. The result received in the evening of March 19, 2020, revealed that I am positive for COVID-19," Minister of National Education Stanislas Ouaro said in a statement.

He will remain in isolation for a few days according to medical protocol, the minister said.

Burkina Faso, which reported its first confirmed COVID-19 case on March 9, now has 40 confirmed cases.
