London's assistant police commissioner confirmed during a news conference on Sunday that three men shot dead by police were the only perpetrators in Saturday's London Bridge attack, but added that there is more to do in the investigation.

Mark Rowley, Assistant Commissioner in the Metropolitan Police Service, said, “We are making significant progress in identifying the three attackers and confirming the fact that there were no other suspects at the scene when the attack was carried out. Work is ongoing to understand more about their connections and whether they were supported or assisted by anyone else.”

Rowley also said the attackers were fatally shot by police within eight minutes of the first emergency call. Eight officers fired a total of 50 rounds at the men, accidentally striking and wounding a member of the public in the process. The civilian's injuries are not believed to be critical and there will be an independent investigation. Rowley added that the public should expect to see increased security measures.

British police said they will release the names of the three attackers as soon as operationally possible, adding that searches are continuing in four properties.
