5.1 magnitude quake hits 43 km NW of Colonia Dora, Argentina: USGS

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 jolted 43 km northwest of Colonia Dora, Argentina at 15:06:54 GMT on Wednesday, according to a preliminary report from the United States Geological Survey.

The epicentre, with a depth of 598.88 km, was initially determined to be at 28.3749 degrees south latitude and 63.3188 degrees west longitude.

There was no immediate confirmation of casualties or any damages to infrastructure or basic services.

Though the earthquake is not as powerful as others on record, no tsunami warning has been issued as yet.
