Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday exchanged congratulations with First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Hailing China-Kazakhstan relations as a good example of neighborly friendship, Xi spoke highly of Nazarbayev's efforts in promoting bilateral relations and deepening cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative.

"The First President Nursultan Nazarbayev is an old friend of mine, and I cherish the good working relationship and deep personal friendship established with him," Xi said, adding that he was willing to work with Nazarbayev to promote a permanent comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the two countries have achieved fruitful outcomes in Belt and Road cooperation, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples, Xi told Tokayev.

China will continue to support Kazakhstan in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions, he said.

"I am willing to work with President Tokayev to take the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to consolidate the traditional friendship between the two countries," he said.

Noting that China was one of the first countries to recognize Kazakhstan's independence, Nazarbayev said the country was ready to work with China to push for greater development of bilateral cooperation in all areas.Over the past three decades, Kazakhstan and China have set a good example for the international community in developing relations between nations and become an important factor for stability and prosperity in Eurasia, Tokayev said.

The two sides have thoroughly resolved an old boundary issue, and the common border has now become a bridge of friendship and unity between Kazakhstan and China, he said.
