A suicide bomber targeted a bus of Afghan national army personnel in capital city Kabul on Monday, killing at least four people including the attacker and wounding four others, an army officer at the site of the blast said.

"A suicide bomber riding an explosive-laden motorbike blew himself up next to a bus of national army personnel at around 03: 15 p.m. local time today, leaving four persons dead and wounding four others," the officer told Xinhua but declined to be named, saying authorized officials would brief the media.

However, he confirmed that two of those killed in the blast were women.

The bomber was also killed in the blast, he added.

Meanwhile, Kabul police chief General Mohammad Zahir in talks with media at the site of the blast confirmed three injured in the incident but added the exact figure of the casualties would be made public after completion of investigation.

Militancy has been on rise since the Taliban launched the so- called spring offensive on May 12 in Afghanistan.
