China has set a prominent and important example for the world in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic with coordinated actions nationwide, a senior Syrian political advisor has said. Bouthaina Shaaban, Syria's political and media advisor to the presidency, made the remarks recently on Syria's al-Watan newspaper.

China's anti-virus steps have shown the world "the Chinese leadership's keenness to place saving human life above any other consideration, regardless of the burden that the country might deal with," she said.

The official also praised China's technological development, saying China has smartly employed technologies in terms of discovering the virus, counting the cases and narrowing the spread of the epidemic.

Meanwhile, in a responsible manner, China has also put its research results at the service of the world's scientists in order to save time and help with the invention of the vaccine and medicine to the virus, she said.

When the pandemic spread to Italy, Spain and elsewhere, China, together with some other countries, gave generous aid to the battered countries, she said, adding that the Chinese role in the global and regional arenas has been "a helping factor to the international family" facing the fatal danger of the virus.

The Syrian official said it is "absurd" to get busy with trying to overshadow what has been proven to be a convincing truth about the Chinese role, adding there is a pressing need for unprecedented international cooperation.
