BEIJING, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Since the COVID-19 outbreak, countries of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) have worked together to tide over the difficult times, which has demonstrated the Lancang-Mekong cooperation of sincerity, mutual assistance and affinity.

A friend in need is a friend indeed. Over the past half-year, China has actively assisted other LMC countries in fighting the pandemic by sending medical expert teams, sharing anti-epidemic information as well as providing medical supplies.

The third LMC leaders' meeting will be held via video link on Aug. 24, according to China's Foreign Ministry.

The LMC is a sub-regional cooperation mechanism jointly established by Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

Originating from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China, the river is called the Lancang River in China and the Mekong River when it flows through the other five countries before emptying into the sea.
