Pharmaceutical company Johnson Johnson on Tuesday applied for authorization for their coronavirus vaccine in the EU, with a decision expected starting mid-March.

If approved, the single-shot vaccine would be the fourth to be approved by the bloc after those developed by AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna.

"EMA has received an application for conditional marketing authorization for a Covid-19 vaccine developed by Janssen-Cilag International N.V.," the European Medicines Agency said, referring to JJ's European subsidiary.

JJ's vaccine has been under review by the EMA since December 1.
