A suspected leak involving methyl formate killed eight people and left three injured in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province, local authorities said on Saturday.
Preliminary confirmation indicates that the leak happened when a car was unloading the chemical compound at a chemical trading firm.
The injured are receiving medical treatment and in stable condition.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
