Guillermo Lasso is the new president of Ecuador

Conservative Guillermo Lasso assumed the presidency of Ecuador on Monday, becoming the country’s first right-wing leader in 14 years. He is entering the presidency in the middle of an economic crisis, made worse by the brutal impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
