Egyptian terrorist leader killed in raid

Egyptian security forces shot dead a key member of the Hasm militant group during a raid on Wednesday, local media reported citing an Interior Ministry statement.

The security apparatus received a tip-off that the Ahmed Mohamed Omar Swelim was hiding in a rented apartment in Cairo's al Marg district. They stormed the hideout and a shootout ensued. An automatic rifle, another gun and large quantities of ammunition were seized from the apartment.

Swelim was a suspect in several terrorist attacks including the murder of several police officers, according to the statement.

Hasm, the armed wing of the Muslim Brotherhood group, is one of the most dangerous terrorist groups in Egypt.
