APD | Chinese Vice Premier Hu arrives in Manila

MANILA, Oct. 23 (APD) – Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua arrived in Manila yesterday for an official visit to the Philippines.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr., Chinese Ambassador to Manila Zhao Jianhua, DFA-Asian and Pacific Affairs Asst. Secretary Meynardo LB. Montealegre and Department of Finance Asst. Secretary Mark Dennis Joven welcomed the visiting dignitary yesterday at 3:30 P.M. at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

In a statement from the Department of Foreign Affairs, it was learned a short meeting took place at the NAIA dignitaries lounge.

Vice-Premier Hu is in charge of matters concerning agriculture, water resources, commerce, and tourism. The top-ranking Chinese official is expected to call on President Rodrigo Duterte and meet with the economic managers to talks about trade, investment, tourism, agriculture and fast track the implementation of key infrastructure projects funded by China.

Tomorrow, a high-level meeting between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the People’s Republic of China will take place at 9:00 A.M. at the Bureau of Treasury in Intramuros, acknowledged as the country’s “Walled City.”
