The Third International Ballet Season which hosted by the National Ballet of China and the Tianqiao theatre is still ongoing. Top ballet artists both from home and abroad are bringing their best performances to the audience in Beijing.

Feng Ying, the head of The National Ballet of China has accepted APD's interview.

The splendid festival has passed a half, two more fascinating ballets by the national ballet of China will be staged. “The Little Mermaid” with class ballet master John Neumeier will be performed on December 15 and 16; “Soul of Crane”, which sings the harmony between human and nature, will be performed on December 22 and 23.

“This version of ‘The Little Mermaid’ shows different meanings from the original one three years ago. The world-class ballet master Neumeier uses the graceful movement to salute Hans Christian Anderson and his Mermaid. In the story, the mermaid pursues love without expecting anything in return, and devotes herself to the world finally.

This time, the assistant to John Neumeier was also invited here to guide our young dancers, which will present a more passionate and wonderful show,” said Feng Ying, director and artistic director of the National Ballet of China.

In addition, an original ballet, “The Spirit of Crane”, will also join the festival. Feng said: “We use this ballet to mark the thirtieth anniversary of heroine Xu Xiujuan’s death, who sacrificed her life to protect cranes.

What’s more, the ballet also presents a hymn to life and youth, a harmony between human and nature. When we brought the ballet to Hamburg in July this year, the German media highly praised the Chinese civilization and elegance in our show.

In the following month, more ballet performances such as “The New Year” and “The New Year Ballet Concert” will be held in the ballet season.
