Beijing, Nov. 22 (APD) - The 9th China Overseas Investment Fair opened in Beijing on Tuesday, which aims to consolidate results brought by the Belt and Road Forum and further advance international capacity cooperation.

Chinese senior officials, business tycoons and professionals from different sectors presented at the fair.

Li Jiping, executive vice president of China Association for the Promotion of Development Financing, addressed the opening ceremony.

He said for many years, the China Overseas Investment Fair always plays an essential role in promoting economic development for different countries and making contribution to world peace and development.

The “Belt and Road” Initiative, a Chinese plan on promoting global governance, has become the most popular goods for international cooperation, stressing the initiative will benefit all the countries involved.

Entrusted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, chief economic advisor to President Sergey Glaziev also led a delegation to participate in the two-day fair.

“Russia, as an important investor in the world, is making efforts to build an open economic society, “Glaziev said. “Russia is encouraging its enterprises to take an active part in investment cooperation with the Chinese side, meanwhile, attract more Chinese enterprises to invest in Russia by setting up a new investment fund.”

Jean-Pierre Rafrin, former Prime Minister of France and chairman of China-Europe Entrepreneur Summit, said that the “opening-up policy and reform is paramount to all countries. And no country can succeed without cooperation.”

While praising China as a major driving force of the development of global economy, he said “all countries should jointly build a more stable and multipolar world for win-win results.”

Zhou Xiaofei, deputy secretary general of the National Development and Reform Commission, noted that in recent years, China has attached greater importance to the building the “Belt and Road” Initiative and capacity cooperation with other countries. He said promoting international capacity cooperation featuring “bringing in” and “going global” not only pushes China’s supply-side structural reform and expand its actual demand, but also improves economic development and people’s well-being in all the countries concerned.

The fair is approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, cosponsored by the China Overseas Development Association and the “Belt and Road” Supply Chain Finance Alliance, and jointly hosted by the China Cable Chamber of Commerce.

As one of important events on Chinese overseas investment, the fair has been held for eight times since 2009.

The event has become a major platform for Chinese enterprises to connect with the world market, meanwhile foreign investors can promote the bilateral and multilateral investment cooperation with Chinese counterparts.
