A Chinese man was among the 49 people killed in the crash of a passenger plane operated by the US-Bangla Airlines in Nepal, the Chinese embassy in the country said on Tuesday.
The Bombardier Dash Q-400 aircraft, with 71 passengers and crew on board, crashed while landing at Nepal's Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Monday afternoon.
The UBG211 flight was en route to Kathmandu from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The ill-fated plane was said to have circled the airport twice before attempting to land. The incident, which also left 22 people injured, was blamed on the pilot's "missed approach," authorities announced.
Of the 67 passengers, 33 were from Nepal, 32 from Bangladesh, one from China and one from the Maldives, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.
The injured are receiving treatment at local hospitals in Kathmandu. Officials said that the death toll may further increase.
The cause of the crash remains unknown and an investigation is underway.
