Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no issues with the resumption of ties with Saudi Arabia, local media reported Wednesday.

During a meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Yousef bin Alawi in Tehran on Tuesday, Rouhani said, “From Iran’s points of view, there is no problem in developing ties with neighbors and resuming relations with Saudi Arabia, as all countries require to stay together in order to create peace and stability in the region.”

The presidents stress on the need that Iran and Saudi Arabia leave aside their past and look ahead to solve regional problems through cooperation.

Rouhani added that Iran’s Hormuz Peace Endeavor (HOPE) is for bringing regional countries together to secure stability and “establish security in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz by expanding our cooperation and preventing foreigners to interfere.”

Talking about the Yemen conflict, Rouhani offered a role and said the war in Yemen should end through Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue.

Omani Foreign Minister appreciated Iranian stance and said Iran’s peace initiative will benefit all, and also help create peace and stability in the region.

Yousef bin Alawi said that there are good signs that the conflict in the war-weary Yemen is being ended.

Both sides welcomed the expansion of relations and cooperation between Iran and Oman, and hoped that the two allies can further develop their economic and cultural relations.
