PM Oli apprises HoR of upcoming BIMSTEC Summit

KATHMANDU, Aug 28 (APD) -- Prime Minister KP Oli on Tuesday apprised the House of Representatives (HoR) about the upcoming summit of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) to be held from August-30-31 in Kathmandu.

Addressing the lawmakers, PM Oli said the Summit will focus on the existing environmental challenges, climate change and other issues related to sustainable development. He further stated that Nepal, as the Chair, is all set to make the BIMSTEC summit a huge success.

Among the total 14 various themes, Nepal has been dealing with the issue of poverty alleviation. On the occasion, PM Oli hoped that the Summit will be helpful to successfully discharge its responsibilities through the people to people connectivity.

Prime Minister Oli also said thatNepal will reach agreements with the leadership of India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh among others through bilateral meetings.
