A total of 201 more people from seven townships in Myanmar' second largest city of Mandalay have been charged with violation of curfew order over the past two days and their cases are under investigation, state media reported Monday.

Earlier, the authorities had arrested 145 people for the offense but were released later.

The authorities also disclosed that in connection with the riot, 16 people were so far been charged with 15 separate counts of illegal possession of weapons and other criminal charges, while those involved in two murder cases, three assault cases and one incineration case are still under investigation.

All seven townships in Mandalay have been placed under curfew since July 3 following communal clashes on July 1 over an alleged rape case in which two people died and 17 other injured.

Situation in Mandalay is reportedly under control.
