Carrie Lam, chief executive of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), said at a weekly briefing that the United States' move to end its special treatment for Hong Kong has little influence on the city.

Her remarks came after Secretary Wilbur Ross said on Monday that U.S. Commerce Department's regulations giving preferential treatment to Hong Kong, including export license exceptions, have been suspended.

In a statement, Ross said further actions to eliminate differential treatment for Hong Kong were also being evaluated.

Hong Kong will resolutely support Beijing if the central government took any countermeasures, Lam added.
