JAKARTA, Oct. 16 (APD) ** – Indonesian goalkeeper player serving for an East Java province’s football club died after committed a severe tragic collision with his teammate in a match of Indonesian football league on Sunday.
The deadly collision that led to the death of goalkeeper player of Persela Lamongan, Choirul Huda, took place in minute 44 shortly before the club ended its first half match against Semen Padang football club in West Sumatra capital of Padang.
In his determent efforts to intercept the attack of opponent club players, he collided with his teammate Ramon Rodrigues, a foreign player serving for Persela.
Huda received an unfortunate hit in his chest and neck from Rodrigues’ feet who failed to stop from his fast running. He eventually hit the 38 year-old goal keeper very hard, made Rodrigues rolled over in the air due to the severity of the collision.
From the match recording, Huda was seen of capable to stand up shortly after the collision, kneeled down right after that with blood came out from his mouth and collapsed on the field.
Doctors in closest hospital of Dr. Soegiri in Padang failed to save Huda’s life after conducted series of medical procedures, declared his death at 16.45 p.m.
Yudistira, a doctor involved in the hospital’s emergency treatment for the ill-fated goalkeeper said that Huda suffered from severe trauma inside his chest, head and neck.
The severe trauma also affected the goalkeeper’s spine that linking to the brain, the doctor said.
Huda teammates, who later on won the match, could not bear the sadness after being acknowledged of the passing of their goalkeeper.
They cried on the football field, while Persela supporters chanted Huda ‘s name.
Thousands of fans came to pay their respects to Huda, Persela said
Huda had tremendous ball-saving records with Persela, the only club he joined in during his life. He played with the club 454 times until his death.
Huda’s death has added list of players died during football matches in Indonesia’s football league since 2000.
Three Indonesian football players from football clubs of Persebaya, PKT Bontang and Persiraja Aceh died also from severe collisions with other players during their matches.
