Father suspected of stabbing his 3-year child dead in Finland

A man was suspected of stabbing his three-year-old child in a playground in Finland on Monday, leading to the death of the child.

The incident occurred in Porvo, southern Finland, said Finnish national broadcaster Yle.

According to the police, the man took the child from home to the nearby playground, where he began to assault the child for unknown reason.

The stabbed child was sent to hospital and died of injuries a few hours later. Witnesses reported to the police and the man was caught and put into custody.

The motive for the stabbing remained unknown. The case was being investigated as a homicide.

Yle reported that the 40-year-old suspect was of French nationality.
