Three suspected cases of the novel coronavirus in Afghanistan have tested negative for the virus, Afghan authorities said Monday.

"Three Afghan citizens with flu symptoms, who were admitted to a regional hospital in western Herat province, were regarded free from coronavirus after their samples tested negative," Wahidullah Mayar, spokesman for Ministry of Public Health, told local media.

The trio recently returned to Herat, bordering Iran, from Qom city of Iran where several positive cases were reported.

On Sunday, Afghanistan temporarily closed all its land border crossings with Iran over the COVID-19 cases in the neighboring country.
