Belarusian president names new prime minister, cabinet members

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Thursday named the country's new prime minister and cabinet members, the presidential press office said.

Roman Golovchenko, who previously served as chairman of the State Military Industrial Committee, was appointed as new prime minister.

Lukashenko appointed Nikolai Snopkov, former ambassador to China, as first deputy prime minister.

Dmitry Krutoy, previously serving as first deputy prime minister, was appointed as deputy head of the presidential administration.

Lukashenko appointed Yuri Seliverstov as new finance minister.

On Wednesday, Lukashenko dismissed his government ahead of a presidential election set for Aug. 9.
