No COVID-19 case was reported in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Wednesday, marking the fourth straight day of zero increase.

The Center for Health Protection (CHP) said the number of total confirmed cases remained at 1,037.

Thanks to effective anti-epidemic measures by the HKSAR government, there have been signs of subsiding for the epidemic in Hong Kong. But the CHP still urged residents to keep social distancing and avoid unnecessary travel as the pandemic was still spreading in many places of the world.

The HKSAR government decided to extend mandatory quarantine for inbound travelers from the mainland that will expire on May 7 for another one month. Entry restrictions and quarantine measures for people from foreign countries are also still effective.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong announced a research program on Wednesday to find out the proportion of asymptomatic COVID-19 patients and planned to recruit 3,000 volunteers.
