British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed the situation in Afghanistan on Saturday, according to Johnson's office.

Both two leaders agreed on the need for international aid and a common approach by the G7 to the future government of Afghanistan.

The last dedicated evacuation flight back to the UK has left Kabul, reported Sky News on Saturday, citing defense sources.

The remaining flights over the weekend are set to bring home British troops as well as the final small numbers of Afghan evacuees who have permission to fly, according to the report.
