Fixed bus routes linking Vietnam, Laos and Thailand will be launched, said Directorate for Roads of Vietnam on Monday.

In December 2015, transport ministries of three countries reached a consensus on carrying out joint survey to organize three international bus routes, Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA quoted a report by the directorate on progress of launching as saying on Monday.

These routes start from Thailand's capital Bangkok and Mukdahan, passing through Laos' Thakhek and Savannakhet to finish at Vietnam's central provinces of Ha Tinh, Thua Thien-Hue and Da Nang.

So far, three sides have completed survey on the first route of Bangkok-Nakhon Phanom-Thakhek-Ha Tinh.

The second meeting on fixed bus routes connecting Vietnam, Laos and Thailand is expected to be held later this year where each country will introduce its transportation companies to join the route.

In the coming time, Vietnam's Directorate for Roads will coordinate with Laos and Thailand to continue examining the two remaining routes, reported VNA.
